Pembrokeshire County Council recently completed an LED lighting upgrade scheme at Tenby Multi Storey Car Park. The old SON lamps were replaced directly with LED lamps in the main car park. The fluorescent lamps in the stairwells were also replaced with LED fittings and floodlighting to the open air top storey parking level was replaced with LED floodlighting. The top level lighting was also fitted with daylighting sensors to ensure the lamps switch off in adequate daylight.
The contractor for the scheme was IWEC International Ltd. Against a tight deadline the Contractor ensured that the installation was completed within budget and in time for Tenby’s busy Easter holiday season. Pembrokeshire County Council are very pleased with the project outcome with all the aims of the project being realised. The energy use and resultant carbon dioxide emissions from the lighting installation have been reduced by more than 50% saving the Council over £7000 per year. This has been achieved whilst also greatly improving lighting conditions making the car park far more user friendly. The scheme also improved pedestrian lighting via the alleyway to the adjacent supermarket again making it a safer and more pleasant area to walk through.
